Pirate Costumes For Halloween and Other Occasions - Pirate Wenches, Captains and Rustic Pirates

Pirates have always been a popular subject for costumes, but that popularity has been taken to a new level with the Disney movies Pirates of the Caribbean, and the successful sequel in 2007, Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest.

When it comes to Halloween, there are sure to be a whole load of new pirates hitting the party scene, with some brave ladies wearing their sexy pirate costumes and guys dressed up as Davey Jones or Captain Jack Sparrow.

While pirates in stories have traditionally been male, you cannot have a good yarn without a bit of female presence. However, period costumes such as those of pirates make good material for adaptation for women's costumes too. There now seem to be as many female pirate costumes as there are male; some sexy, some not.

The three pictures on this page are just some samples of the types of pirates costumes you can find online, or maybe from a local supplier if you are lucky enough to have one near to you. The picture on the left is a typical pirate's wench costume, in this case a plus size costume which includes a brown lace-up corset, white off-the-shoulder blouse, and a striped skirt.

As far as swashbuckling male pirates go, the pirate costume pictured left has a rustic period flair to it, and comes with off-white gauze lace up shirt, brown embossed vinyl vest withblack trim and grommets, crimson sash, black grommeted belt, brown boot tops, eyepatch, gold earring, and pirate hat. Apart from the pants, which are not included, just about everything you need to spend your days pirating in the Caribbean Sea, or just going to a Halloween or other costume party where you want to dress up like a good old fashioned pirate.

If you are a man and prefer to go to the party as something a bit more debonaire than a common pirate, then another option ( left) is to go as a pirate captain. This high ranking pirate costume includes a black full cut jacket with lace trimmed sleeves, mock shirt, pants, belt, and lace jabot. At least you can boss around all those other ordinary pirates, and even demand their wenches.
